Running the Hackney Half & Celebrating the Ride & Run logo

To celebrate the launch of this new and ace look of the blog and the new Ride & Run logo I ran the Hackney Half last Sunday. In addition to the web design, Hexaten has designed printed merchandise so I have my own logo on my running top as well as my hoodie for leisure afterwards, what a luxury!

Nearly there, half a kilometer to go.

The race was massive, about 10 000 runners took part, by far the largest race I have run. Apart from being part of a great mass of runners the weather was perfect, sunny with cool breezes now and then, and the entertainment along the route was plentiful. Many families stood in front of their houses cheering and the children offered cups of water, sweets or pieces of fruits. In addition, there were music groups entertaining with a variety of music styles, for example drums and gospel. It was a running-party in Hackney.

Since I didn’t consider myself fit, having had too much stress to deal with lately and not enought training, I aimed for a time around 2h 20min. However, when I started running I felt strong. I could see on my GPS watch that I was running a bit too fast, but I thought, what the hell – this is so much fun, let’s see if I can keep it up. And keep it up I could, I finished on an awesome 2h 8min 51sec, beating my personal best. I like to believe I smiled for the whole duration of the race!

  1. Heja dig Åsa.. Vilken jävla tid!! Impad och grymt jobbat!!!!!!!!!!! Snygg sida as well. Hoppas stressen har lagt sig och att du får lite vila efter denna prestation.

    1. Tack för fina ord! Snart blir det vila och motorcykel-meditation, långresa i sommar igen, tältet ska med, löparskorna och i viss mån Christopher… Life is Good!
